So I am updating my situation with my cat Louis who likes to pee on sofas and beds. While I was away this summer, my boyfriend became a little too relaxed with cleaning the litter boxes and Louis took it out on the couch!!! So now the couch is ruined because once the cat urine smell is in there, there is absolutely no way to eliminate it! She will just continue to mark it since she thinks its hers.

So now we have gone through 4 couches in 2 years! Scared

I have given up on the idea of owning a couch for the next 10 odd years. I am buying  something similar to these Rattan sofa and chairs: https://www.ikea.com/se/sv/catalog/products/S09216680/. But we will have to forgo the cushions and put faux fur blankets on them since she doesn't pee on that material for some reason.

Have you tried to get the smell off with vinegar?

Oh dear not again! At least it sounds like you have a solution ready to put in place!

#2 Yes we have tried, and special cat urine spray which didn’t work. It is all out of everything else but the inner sofa cushions which is just impossible to remove to smell. Even if we can’t detect it, cats have a stronger sense of smell 😓

Perhaps you should opt for second-hand sofas that you can get for free. Take a look at bortskankes.se.
